A redesigned, and modernized version of the iconic M6GT, available in a superiorly engineered kit.
The M6GT was created by Bruce McLaren to be the fastest road car in the world in 1969. The car, based on his M6 racing car, was an aluminum monocoque design, with a fiberglass body, and a variety of drivetrain options to suit the customer's needs.
Due to Bruce's untimely passing in 1970, only three M6GT's were ever built. A few companies over the years produced some replica bodies, and cheap "kit-cars", however none of them were able to capture the true essence of Bruce McLaren's vision.
Retroformance has been working with vintage supercars & racecars for years, learning the designs, as well as the shortfalls of these incredible cars. That's when it clicked... "What if we could bring the appeal and the raw driving experience of a vintage supercar, but fix all of the nightmares headaches that come with them?" Welcome to the Retroformance M6GT
We partnered with Strickland Racing Inc, to bring you an all-aluminum monocoque chassis specifically for our M6GT. Increased cabin space, increased footbox space, street-focused suspension geometry, and integrated drivetrain mounting are just some of the features on this incredible design. It's time to make the street car McLaren always wanted to.
Mid-engine supercars, especially classics, have become reality for only a select few. Deep pockets are needed to maintain these machines, let alone obtain them. We believe this must change. We believe in building incredible cars, at a price point many more can enjoy. Affordability and simplicity are inherent in our engineering and design process, making sure you can build the M6GT of your dreams.
To optimize performance, availability, and ease of assembly, we have developed CNC-made components in-house, that work with high-performance off-the-shelf components. We aim to take the guesswork and difficulty out of building your own car. Tubular control arms, Wildwood brakes, CNC billet uprights, and standard steering racks are just some of the engineered items used in this car.
There is one thing for certain on the McMule...it needs to WORK. The chassis is in its testing lifecycle getting put through the paces. Rigidity, longevity, adjustments, and refinements are all a part of our process. Gone are the days where kit cars skip the engineering & testing phase and go right into the brochure to order; selling you on a dream that never materializes.
Chassis testing is in progress. This means driving cycles, structural testing, component adaptability, systems integration, and overall driving experience testing. Updates and more information will be available on our social media so please follow & subscribe!
This car is being developed in conjunction with Stacey David from Gearz! The chassis & history of the car will air on Season 18 in August 2024
Projected availability early 2025.
You can reserve your place for our first batch of "Turn-Key" or "Kit" options!
